Colloquium "Learn to Be for Better Learning"

Education and Pedagogy marks International Day of Educating Cities in Lagoa

The council of Lagoa prepared for the next November 30th, date when the International Day of the educating cities is celebrated, a wide space of reflection through the Colloquium "learn to Be for better learning". Sandra Barão Nobre, Dina Mendonça, Magda Gomes Dias, Lourdes Mata, Maria Helena Horta, Patricia Constante and João Canossa Dias are the guests who will attract to the Cultural center of the Convent of St. Joseph an enriching debate around topics such as education and pedagogy.

In addition to cognitive competences, highlighting the learning of reading and writing, this meeting will focus on the importance of the development of emotional competences and the promotion of the capacity for reflection, questioning and resolution of Problems in the formation of children and young people. "How do you create (emerging) literacy experiences for everyone?", "What are the benefits of reading in loud voice to babies?", "How do mothers, fathers and children interact within the concept of positive parenting?" will be other challenges launched.

The colloquium will have its opening at 9:30am, with the presence of the Mayor of the Council, Francisco Martins, and the rector of the University of the Algarve (UALG), Paulo Águas. By 9:50am Lourdes Mata (Higher Institute of Applied Psychology-ISPA), specializing in the study of family literacy, will make an intervention on "emotions in the classroom-know, recognize and manage to learn to be"; And by 10:30am will be possible to watch the panel: "Contribution of emerging literacy to the performance in reading in the 1st CEB", presented by Patrícia Constante (psychologist at the council of Matosinhos and mentor of school projects of Emerging literacy and mathematics skills).

The morning will be still marked by the interventions of João Canossa Dias (technical director of the Association for the recovery of unadapted citizens of Lousã – ARCIL)-"books for participation, stories about inclusion!" (11h30) and Sandra Barão Nobre (bibliotherapist) – "read does well... to the XXS babies too!" (12 a.m.).

At 3:30pm, Dina Mendonça (researcher in the area of philosophy of emotions-Institute of Philosophy-University of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon), will make an intervention on "Philosophy for Children and Youth: some Fundamental aspects ", an area in which it has a large published work. And by 3pm, Magda Gomes Dias (author of the blog "Mum's The Boss" and best sellers in the area of pedagogy) will talk about "who is afraid of positive parenting? The five pillars "of the School of parenthood and positive education, of which it is foundress.

Between 4 and 5:30pm three workshops: rediscovering and rebuilding the communication (João Canossa Dias), the philosophy for children and young people: what do we do with our questions? (Dina Mendonça) and challenges for the evaluation and intervention in learning difficulties in the 1st CEB (Patrícia Constante) will fill the afternoon of dynamics. The conclusions of the Colloquium will be elaborated by Maria Helena Horta (School of Education and Communication of UALG). 
After a day of sharing experiences, the Colloquium will be closed by Councilwoman Ana Martins and the Regional delegate of education – Dgeste-Dsralgarve, Alexandre Martins Lima.
