Developed by music artist Rita Redshoes, in partnership with Betweien, Lda., the pedagogical project "Rita and the Vegetable Forest" comes to the Municipal Library of Castro Marim on December 13, at 6 pm, in a session aimed especially at children, but open to the entire public.

Involving various dynamics, from telling a story about Rita, through theater and interpreting various themes composed by Rita Redshoes herself, this action aims to promote a healthier diet and lifestyle, a work that the municipality of Castro Marim has also done through a food reeducation in the schools of the municipality. Since the beginning of this year, the municipality of Castro Marim has created a more careful process of food selection, privileging the origin of national and regional production and less processed and additive foods. At the same time, all the operational of the preschool cafeterias and the first cycle of the county were in formation, so that they could acquire new knowledge and parchments according to this concept of natural cuisine.

"Rita and the Vegetable Forest" brings us the story of a girl with a voracious appetite, who lost her appetite when she saw vegetables on the meal plate that her parents affectionately prepared. One day, as they pulled the vegetables to the side of the dish, the colorful vegetables changed color and turned gray, in a sign of Rita's sadness and misunderstanding. It is then that on a magical journey to a forest of giant vegetables, Rita realizes why the vegetables are on her plate.

This initiative is mainly aimed at preschool and 1st cycle students and will focus on the Mediterranean diet, the food wheel, local foods, healthier and more traditional cooking techniques and physical exercise.

In order to celebrate the values of Christmas with the little ones, as in previous years, the Municipality of Castro Marim offers the book of "Rita and the Forest of Vegetables" to about 500 children who attend preschool education and the 1st cycle in the county.
