6th Culture Market... by Candlelight Featured

The Mediterranean cultures featured in the 6th edition of the culture market … by Candlelight, from 4th to 7th July 2019 between 7pm and 00:30, in LAGOA- Convent of St. Joseph and surrounding streets

 

From 4th to 7th July the convent of St. Joseph in Lagoa and surrounding streets are back to the epicenter of the market of cultures... by Candlelight.

After the success of Carvoeiro Black & White, the Municipal Council of Lagoa continues its cultural program of 2019 with the culture market... by Candlelight. Over 4 nights, more than 60 craftsmen from various cultures and religions of the world will live together in harmony and show the thousands of visitors their traditions, flavours and arts.

This cultural event, of unique characteristics in Portugal, in its sixth edition will have as cultural theme the different cultures of the Mediterranean, in the most diverse areas: music, dance, gastronomy, crafts...

Traditional root songs will be featured in the various event scenarios

With the presence of TERRA TARANTA (Italy), Christos Kanellos (Greece), Helena Madeira (Portugal), EL LAFF (Morocco/Spain) and LAFRA (Croatia/Bulgaria/Slovenia). Also highlighting the presence of a group of musicians and gigantones that will wander the streets of the market of cultures, and also of RITA SALES recognized declaimer of tales of the Mediterranean.

The exhibition hall of the Convent of St. Joseph will receive an extraordinary show of "musical instruments with history". In addition to the exhibition, there will be three daily moments of musical and explanatory statements of each instrument exposed.

The Mediterranean gastronomy will also have a preponderant role in this event. In this sense, the cloisters of the Convent of St. Joseph will be converted into an Andalusian tavern, with delicacies typical of southern Spain. To highlight the presence of a "veneciadora" of wine and a cutter of "jamón" Iberian.

The novelty in this edition will be the creation of 3 thematic streets: Arab Street, Africa Street and East Street, and also an area dedicated to the aromatic plants of the Mediterranean.

Lastly, and no less important will be the daily firing of thousands of candles, with which will be drawn 40 symbols related to religions, gastronomy,

literature, architecture and mythology of the Mediterranean, positioned in the entrances and in the intricacies of the market, constituting a spectacle of enormous visual beauty.

In this sixth edition, 50000 people are expected over 4 nights, which are expected to be magical, full of light and good vibes.

It should be noted that the entry for the event is free.
