8th Congress of Portuguese Educative Cities gathers in Lagoa technical and academic politicians

The Portuguese Educator Cities will meet in Congress, between May 15th and 18th, 2019, at the Arade Congress Centre in Lagoa ,  Algarve.

Of the nearly eight dozen Portuguese educating cities, about 50 have already confirmed that they will participate and present in the Congress of Lagoa their educative experiences.

In parallel, there are also confirmed about a dozen communications from several Portuguese universities, with full representation of the Higher Education Institutions present in the Algarve, namely UAlg – Universidade do Algarve, the Open University, the ISMAT – Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes, which also joins the University of Évora.

Another novelty of the 8th Congress of the Educating Cities, is the special participation of a group of young people from all over the country, invited by the various Municipalities Educators. To Lagoa are going to arrive about 40 young people to be challenged to build together, concretized proposals of the Educator City in the counties where they inhabit.

The program of this Congress proposes to treat three different levels, that  when conjugated are responsible for the reality of our cities: The political level, the technician, and the academic research.

The two tables of mayors, scheduled for the 15th and 17th of May, will promote the debate between political leaders of various Portuguese educating cities, and will be moderated by two journalists.

Among the many renowned lecturers, already confirmed, stand out Carlos Fortuna, PHD in sociology, is a professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra and Permanent Researcher at the Center for Social Studies; Jacqueline Moll, PHD in Education, and professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil; Paulo Dias, PHD in Education, is a professor and rector of the Open University.
